Nation/Clan: Seneca/Wolf Clan
Media: Drawing, painting, and photography
I’ve always watched my mother paint or draw and she’s taught me a lot of what I know. Besides that, I have taken art classes every year throughout school. When I was a senior in high school, I took a photography class and I was named the “Most Artistic” in the class of 2006. Since then, I sold a photograph to the Seneca Allegany Casino and have showed some art in the art shows held there.
Since I can remember, I’ve loved to draw and paint. Art class was my favorite subject in school. l couldn’t wait to get there and it never seemed to last long enough. When I was in 2nd grade, I was named the “Artist of the Month”. I felt so proud being recognized for doing something that I loved. Art also provided a way for me to forget the stress of outside ‘things’ and it let me ‘escape’ from the boring school day. When I draw or make something for someone, I love to see their faces when I present it to them because I know that I was able to make them happy with my talent. I watched my mother with her artwork and it has always been inspirational to know that I was given this talent through her. Art is something that will always be a bond for my mom and I. I can only hope that I pass this passion onto my son, expanding the family bond. To me, art signifies where you come from and what you’ve been through. Every piece of work that is created has a piece of the artist in it, no matter what the Media.
