Artist Resume:

Kaherisakhe Crystal T. Henry was raised in Akwesasne, the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation in Upstate New York. Her Haudenosaunee and Ojibway heritage plays a significant part in all facets of her life. She draws her inspiration from Haudenosaunee culture and stories and is also inspired by Southwest pottery designs and Northeast painting styles.

Artist Statement:

I’m Onyota’a:ka (Oneida) “People of the Standing Stone,” one of the six nations that form the Haudenosaunee “People of the Longhouse” or Iroquois Confederacy and I am Ojibway on my father side. I continue the traditional arts and crafts that my families have created for generations. I enjoy working with the traditional materials and incorporating them into my own contemporary style. Through the arts, I assist to promote and preserve my cultural knowledge. I also demonstrate our traditional crafts to the public in order to educate people about our history and heritage.
